From October 8th to 11th the Plaza de Colón in Madrid is the scene of an audiovisual show on “Marca España” that has already been shown in Berlin and Barcelona.

The show Spain today, a new vision of Spanish talent, sets out to promote ‘Marca España’ by highlighting its strong points and differentiating features in a mapping spectacle that uses new technologies to combine 3D images, sound and special effects.

The show, designed and staged by ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño, will take place in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid from October 8th to 11th in four screenings, one every 30 minutes between 21:00 and 23:00.

The audiovisual show – which lasts 8 minutes – is projected onto a large undulating structure 13 meters long by 9 meters high. It evokes the Spanish letter ‘ñ’ and shows modern-day Spain through some of the best examples of the country’s artistic, cultural, industrial, business, technological, gastronomic and sports heritage. ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño has used 6 projectors of 20,000 lux each and 22,350 watts of sound.

The show has already been seen in Berlin during the German-Spanish summit that took place in early September this year, attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Spanish Premier Mariano Rajoy, and in Barcelona during the World Mobile Congress. On this occasion, however, a version is presented in which greater emphasis has been given to Madrid and its cultural reference points.

It will be the first time that the people of Madrid can enjoy – free of charge and in the open air – a large-scale mapping show designed and produced by ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño, a benchmark company in Europa in ‘cultural engineering’ spectacles designed to highlight the singular features of a particular society or place through the use of state-of-the-art technologies.

In line with ACCIONA’s overall commitment to sustainability, the event is ‘carbon neutral’, in other words, the CO2 emissions generated by it are calculated and then offset in a clean energy project to ensure that the final emissions balance will be equivalent to zero.
