ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño designs an award winning stand for Trasmediterranea at FITUR Tourism Fair

Trasmediterranea entrusts ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) with the design, fabrication and installation of its stand at Fitur, as well as the design of the new logo for its Centennial 1917-2017, which has been unveiled for the first time in Fitur, the International Tourism Fair in Spain.

Fitur chose Trasmediterranea as one of the fair’s best stands within the Companies Category. The prize-winning stand presented a floating scenography made up of 2017 sailors knots hanging at various lengths, poetically referred to as “the great wave of time”, symbolizing the identity of this shipping company just about to celebrate its 100th year in operation.

The result is a beautiful symbiosis with a seafaring theme and represents the fusion between tradition and modernity, linking the company´s historical past with its transition towards a new dynamic era and the rebirth of its brand.

In this competition, Fitur evaluates the stands on the basis of Professionalism (the suitability of the stand with regard to the marketing needs of each product); Communication/Promotion (identification of the stand with the image and product) and Design (evaluation of the degree of originality and innovation). The awards went to Trasmediterranea, Meliá Hotels International and Iberia, with a special mention to Kananga, within the Companies Category; to Japan, Nepal, Mexico and Kerala (India), the last one distinguished with a special mention, in the category of Countries; and within the Autonomous Regions of Spain Category to La Rioja, Navarra and Aragón.

The director of Passenger Operations of Trasmediterranea, Ignacio Maldonado, received the award on behalf of the company from Ana Larrañaga, director of Fitur, and Javier Valdés, president of the jury.

Trasmediterranea also presented at Fitur the new logo dedicated to its Centennial 1917-2017, which was displayed in a highly visual position within the stand. Designed by APD, the logo represents the company’s one hundred years of experience by the number one hundred highlighted in red, acting as a symbol representing the whole period. At the same time, the handwritten, dynamic and modern character of this graphical symbol is in perfect contrast to the more classic typography of the brand TRASMEDITERRANEA, joined to this same typography for the period 1917-2017, but in a more corporate and subtle tone, including the period that marks the start of the company’s shipping operations. The logo is a fusion of tradition and future, values which are laid down in the company’s foundation which looks beyond the present without forgetting its signs of identity.

From now on, the new logo for the Centennial will be progressively displayed on the company’s ships, delegations and maritime stations.

Trasmediterranea is the company with the broadest experience and knowledge within the Spanish regular-lines shipping sector. It was formed in November 1916 with the contribution of fleets from well-known Spanish ship-owner companies and a founding fleet of 45 ships, beginning its activity as far back as January 1, 1917, and operating ever since.
