The José Entrecanales Ibarra Awards are internationally renowned in the world of civil engineering and development cooperation.
The Foundation has entrusted the entire organization of the event to ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño for the fourth time.
The 4th José Entrecanales Ibarra Awards ceremony for civil engineering and development cooperation took place on Monday 13 March in the auditorium of the Civil Engineering College of Madrid, where the Foundation has its headquarters.
As on previous occasions, ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) was entrusted with the design, production, assembly, coordination and complete organization of the event, which was attended by around 500 guests from the world of civil engineering, the economy and development aid. The event was officiated by His Majesty, King Felipe IV and was also attended by the Minister of Public Works, Íñigo de la Serna.
Presented every three years, the awards seek to recognize civil engineering as a tool for encouraging and promoting the development of society and its well-being.
The awards are presented in two categories. The Civil Engineering Award is intended to recognize the professional, educational or research career of people that have significantly advanced the development of this discipline, contributing to society. This year’s award was presented to the Japanese engineer Shigeo Takahashi for his studies on tsunamis and the prevention of coastal disasters.
The other award for Development Cooperation recognizes and funds a civil engineering project that supports the social and economic development of a local community. In this fourth edition, the jury selected an “Ayuda en Acción” project for construction of a water capture and storage network that will ensure a supply of water for rural communities in the Bolivian Andes.
The prize-giving ceremony for the José Entrecanales Ibarra Awards was a ‘carbon neutral’ event thanks to ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño’s commitment to sustainability in all of its activities. The CO2 emissions associated with the event will be calculated so that they can be offset by the Tuppadahalli Wind Energy clean energy project in Karnataka (India), ensuring that the final net emissions are zero.
APD’s experience in these types of corporate events has led companies such as Santalucía, Vodafone, Endesa, Bestinver, Bankinter, Airbus, Unipapel and Adama to entrust it with the organization of their institutional and corporate events such as conventions, prize-giving ceremonies, management meetings, salesforce meetings and product presentations, among others.
