The Spanish pavilion at the Astana 2017 International Exposition (Kazakhstan), designed and implemented by ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) and Frade Arquitectos, will span a total surface of 868 m2 and include different types of audio-visual resources focused on sustainability and renewable energies.
Defined by the Expo theme “Future Energy”, it will show the past, present and future of natural resource exploitation in Spain, together with the need to treat the planet and its sources of energy in a responsible and sustainable manner.
The pavilion, coordinated by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) – a public organisation managing Spain’s participation at World and International Expositions ‑, introduces a creative, conceptual, evocative and metaphorical design in form, and an educational and informative nature in substance. Its exhibition content will include immersive, sensorial and synchronised audio-visual presentations.
Within its walls, visitors will be welcomed by an explanatory wall painting and an audio-visual feature, offering a brief introduction to the country and the renewable energy projects developed around the world. The main space will be designed as a large plaza with three buildings, each one of them an audio-visual installation related to sustainable energy solutions.
The pavilion is expected to attract over 3 million visitors and was presented on April 25th by the Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister, Alfonso Dastis, and the Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda Minister, Álvaro Nadal, accompanied by Fernando Benzo, Curator of the Spanish Pavilion and Chairman of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E).
Between June 10th and September 10th 2017, Astana Expo 2017 will gather 130 official participants, 112 nations and 18 international organisations.
