Received an Honourable Mention in the “Editor’s Choice” category. The UAE Pavilion at the Astana Expo 2017 combines immersive and didactic resources to highlight the country’s energy evolution.
The United Arab Emirates Pavilion has been awarded at the “Expo 2017 Awards” by Exhibitor magazine to recognize the best creations presented during the International Exhibition in Astana, being held in Kazakhstan until 10 September.
Implemented by ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) from a design by Ralph Appelbaum Associates, the Pavilion received an Honourable Mention in the “Editor’s Choice” category for its combination of design, technology, innovation and narration in the same space to create immersive experiences and attractive contents for the visitors.
APD has been the company responsible for the assembly, technical development and execution of the Pavilion’s exhibition area (1000 m2) and the VIP area (650 m2), which show the country’s progress in renewable energies. With a didactic approach, it incorporates state-of-the-art multimedia technology such as interactive devices or enveloping projections that place the visitor at the centre of the search for a more sustainable future.
The four elements (earth, water, wind, fire) and their dimensions (from the microscopic to the colossal) are the two axes on which the exhibition area is based, presenting the country’s dynamism and progress in energy innovation.
The Pavilion also has an immersive audio-visual theatre with a 270-degree screen that includes floor and ceiling projections to show the past, present and future of the UAE’s energy technology.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño has also carried out the design and implementation of the Spanish Pavilion at the Astana Expo, as well as the museographic implementation of two floors of the Kazakhstan Pavilion, the hosting nation and focal point of the event.
Divided into eight different categories, in addition to the “Editor’s Choice” and “People’s Choice”, the “EXPO 2017 Awards” recognize a total of 16 Pavilions for inspiring the sector. These awards are granted by Exhibitor magazine, an international publication specializing in expos and events that offers current information, analysis and reporting on the latest trends in the sector.
