This international event will take place on July 6th and 7th at the Episcopal Palace of Astorga and will gather approximately 150 delegates and 17 speakers from around the world to study Gaudí’s life and work.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño’s Museum Implementation Director, Manuel Fernández, will discuss new exhibition models.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) will take part in the 3rd Gaudí World Congress, an international event jointly organised by the Gaudi World Congress and Astorga City Council, with the collaboration of the Bishopric of Astorga and the Provincial Council through the Cultural Institute of León.
Astorga’s Episcopal Palace, one of Gaudí’s most prominent works outside of Catalonia, will be the main venue for this event and will gather 150 delegates and 17 speakers from around the world to explore the life and work of the Catalonian architect and Modernist genius, Antonio Gaudí. The theme of the congress is “Inspiring originality by going back to the origins”.
In this third edition, the programme of the Congress has been structured around 6 themed sessions: Society, Leadership, New Economies, Environment, Design and New Technologies. International experts from the fields of business, university, architecture, design, research, art, and culture will gather to explore Gaudí’s working practices and the possibility of applying them to the world of business.
This year the congress aims to give particular visibility to the methodology and values that Gaudí was able to generate in his time and that, today, 90 years after his death, are still current: sustainability, creativity, and social conscience.
In this context, Manuel Fernández, director of the Museum Implementation Department at ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño, will take part in the Design theme section with the lecture “How to design an immersive experience”, on Friday 6 July at 3 pm. During his talk, Manuel Fernández will discuss innovative exhibition formulas to reinterpret cultural heritage through technology and sustainable development. ACCIONA defines it as Cultural Engineering: the development of museographic projects that place the visitor in the centre of the experience and include the latest technological advances, together with the application of criteria such as accessibility, diversity, and minimization of the environmental footprint, for the benefit of society and with minimal environmental impact.
The third Gaudí World Congress will take place in 2018 and 2019 in Barcelona, Beijing, Rancagua (Chile) and Astorga.
In parallel to the Congress on the 6th and 7th of July, the city will host a range of complementary activities for the general public such as exhibitions, concerts, shows and guided tours.
