APD was responsible for the design and technical production of the handover ceremony of the first Airbus Defence and Space A400M transport plane to Spain’s Ministry of Defence. The ceremony was presided by the Defence Minister, Mª Dolores de Cospedal, and by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Francisco Javier García Arnaiz.
This handover ceremony was a very important milestone for the sector, as it was the first time that this military plane type is part of the Spanish Air Force.
The act took place in one of the hangars that Airbus has in Seville with the presence of 300 guests, among them important representatives of the institutional and business scene such as the President of the Andalusian Parliament, Juan Pablo Durán; the Government’s delegate in Andalucía, Antonio Sanz; the Mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas, and the president of Airbus España, Fernando Alonso.
At the opening, a video was screened featuring images of the workers of the different Airbus factories in Europe involved in the construction, to highlight the European nature of the project. The act also included a light show projected on the freighter itself that simulated its flight.
